When I was a child there was no such thing as „November Snow.“ In fact, the earliest snow would come in mid to late December at the earliest… and those years were the most special… not because of what had happened earlier in the year prior to the snow, but just the fact that there was snow so close to Christmas. I used to think that if there was snow on or near Christmas I must be living in a special world… That was before I knew any truths about science, weather, geography, and climate (which is basically all of the first three things in a nutshell).
Tonight as I watched the video I had taken of the snow I was reluctant to post it, but then I thought, „ no, post it and write what you thought when you first watched it.“ My thoughts were that the early parts of the video were in synch with my excitement about the snowfall and the blurry parts which quickly came into focus were just as life is… sometimes the excitement blurs our vision, but with a bit of reflection it can all come into focus and we can appreciate all of the beauty with which we are surrounded. L
Life is hardly perfect, but for most of us (even those of us who have suffered tremendous trauma) there are more good days than bad days… and for those of us who are lucky enough to have faced the trauma and moved forward, there is peace and beauty that we hopefully will choose to share with others.
If you are reluctant to be happy, stop and reflect on at least one person or moment that made you smile… if you need to apologize to someone, do not hold back… apologize and move on… we can only be as happy or useful as we want/will ourselves to be. Find someone who believes in you and tell them you need their comfort/support. Find someone who has made you feel valued and thank them. Then, do the same for someone else. Make your own magic.
