Monday…

I know we sometimes dread Monday, but today I was on a journey to feel better. I took my time gettng out the door… I packed a lunch and I even was patient at the Orange train platform when I noticed a couple deciding whether or not to board. Turns out they were from the US and were trying to make sense of SBB mobile app. I knew what they needed to hear, so I helped and it felt good. The lady said they would be in Switzerland for 3 weeks so I gave her my contact information just in case.

It is funny how helping others makes you feel good sometimes. I know it is not always the case, especially for those of us who struggle in social situations, but as I am trying to feel better physically and emotionally I am looking for moments that stand out to me and trying to learn from those situations. Today I realized that when I am confident about something and someone could use my help I will offer. I often told my kids to “try and be a helper.” I never realized until I spent time thinking about it today how that can benefit more than one party at a time. I know I will not always offer because sometimes it is not safe physically or emotionally, but when my confidence is high, I will do it.

Today I took trains to Bern, Spiez, and Interlaken Ost. The best train by far was from Spiez to Interlaken Ost. I was on the Panoramic Express on the Golden Pass Railway, so I upgraded to 1st class and that was a very wise decision. One, the train was super crowded (with teenagers and tourists) and two, the 1st class wagons are so nice. It was quiet, spacious, clean…. all the things I am looking for in a train ride. I would recommend this train to everyone. I think I am going to look for more opportunities to ride this train soon. One day this week I am planning to ride the Glacier Express because I love the bridges and tunnels on that ride and I have not been on the entire route, so that will be fun.

Tomorrow, I am planning a short trip in the afternoon because I have household responsibilities to take care of… darn laundry still has not figured out how to wash, dry, fold, and put itself away. And the floors need vacuuming… darn floors. So, I will find some place close and fun to explore. Bis Morgen!
