Going with the flow today…

I had earlier mused about taking the Chocolate Train today, but after yesterday I think it is better fro me to try and find a part of Switzerland which is not packed with tourists. There was no space to sit on the boat, no quiet areas of the train, and the stress of all that did not lower my blood pressure. Last night’s check was worse than the morning readings and this morning is worse than last night’s. So, the plan is to find a way to relax and to find a hill to climb to boost my confidence and my mood. I have missed the 9:10 boat to Biel, so I think I will pack a lunch and go into Solothurn for a coffee, a walk along the river, and then catch the 12:10 boat.

This is a fun boat ride because you must go through a lock to continue along the river. From Solothrun the water is raised to get you going on to Biel and from Biel the water is lowered to get you going to Solothurn. It is a fun and interesting feature of this ride I did not know about until I first experienced it with Brooke. This ride also has a great view of the Jura Mountain Range and many Blue Heron who enjoy sitting on the river bank to catch the wake of the boat on their bodies. There is also a beautiful wooden bridge to pass under in Buren An Der Aare (a beautiful village to visit another time) and other flora and fauna to keep the 3-hour ride interesting. I added some photos yesterday of views from Harder Kulm and the Thuner See. I also was able to reload some from the sabbatical trip which did not load last year. I will add a few today as I float along the river and if I hike a little I will add some photos of my findings with that. I hope you enjoy this trip as much as I plan to. 😉
